Биография
Dylann Storm Roof carried out a racially motivated mass shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, on June 17, 2015. He sat with the congregation during a Bible study session for nearly an hour before opening fire, killing nine people including the senior pastor, State Senator Clementa C. Pinckney.
Roof grew up in a fractured home in Columbia, South Carolina, with divorced parents and a history of academic failure and social isolation. He dropped out of high school and spent most of his time alone, consuming white supremacist content online after the Trayvon Martin case led him to search for "black on white crime."
He became radicalized through websites promoting white nationalism and the "great replacement" theory. He authored a manifesto explaining his beliefs and posed in photographs with Confederate flags and white supremacist symbols. He chose Emanuel AME Church specifically for its historical significance as a center of African American community life.
Survivors reported that during the shooting, he told victims he "had to do it" and almost didn't go through with the attack because everyone had been so nice to him during the Bible study. He later told investigators he wanted to start a "race war."
Roof was captured the next morning during a traffic stop in North Carolina. He was convicted on 33 federal charges including hate crimes and obstruction of religion, and sentenced to death - the first federal death sentence for a hate crime. He represented himself during the penalty phase and offered no defense or mitigating evidence.
Психологический Профиль: INFP
Roof demonstrates INFP cognitive functions corrupted by online radicalization into racial violence:
**Dominant Fi (Introverted Feeling):** His deeply personal absorption of white supremacist ideology was driven by Fi. He didn't join an organization or follow a leader - he independently internalized a value system that gave meaning to his isolated, purposeless life. His racism was felt as personal moral truth, not group ideology.
**Auxiliary Ne (Extraverted Intuition):** His ability to connect isolated news events into a grand narrative of racial conflict shows Ne pattern-building. From individual crime reports, he constructed an entire worldview of racial warfare that justified mass murder. The internet provided endless fuel for Ne's pattern-connecting tendency.
**Tertiary Si (Introverted Sensing):** His fixation on historical symbols - the Confederacy, apartheid-era South Africa and Rhodesia - shows Si romanticizing a past that never existed as he imagined it. He drew on mythologized history to construct an identity and purpose.
**Inferior Te (Extraverted Thinking):** His stated goal of starting a "race war" through a single shooting at a church shows profoundly unrealistic Te. He could not logically assess whether his action would achieve any strategic purpose. His manifesto, while attempting logical argument, was riddled with logical fallacies.
