Jerry Sandusky

Gerald Arthur Sandusky was a celebrated assistant football coach at Penn State University for 30 years, known as the architect of "Linebacker U" and the defensive mastermind behind two national championships. He was also a serial child sexual abuser who used his fame, authority, and charitable foundation to prey on vulnerable boys for decades. Sandusky founded The Second Mile in 1977, a nonprofit organization serving underprivileged and at-risk youth. The charity, which served hundreds of children annually, was widely praised and gave Sandusky access to a steady supply of vulnerable boys from troubled backgrounds who craved the attention and mentorship of a famous football figure. In both cases, the incidents were handled internally rather than reported to law enforcement. Sandusky was finally arrested in 2011 after a grand jury investigation. He was convicted on 45 counts of sexual abuse involving 10 victims and sentenced to 30 to 60 years in prison.
